REQUEST FOR OFFERS TO PURCHASE GROUNDWATER RIGHT

Project Information

Project Name
REQUEST FOR OFFERS TO PURCHASE GROUNDWATER RIGHT
Project Type
Water Rights
Project Manager
Alan Packard
Project Description
In 2006 JVWCD submitted a series of water right change applications proposing to divert water from the groundwater aquifer in northern Utah County. Those change applications would have enabled JVWCD to provide water supplies to its member agencies, specifically including the portions of Draper City that are situated in Utah County. Since that time JVWCD has adjusted its water supply strategies and now prefers to acquire surface water rights in the Provo River system which can be beneficially used within the JVWCD service area using its existing conveyance and treatment facilities.

Of the change applications submitted in 2006, only one, a32138a, has been approved and JVWCD is now willing to sell a32138a on terms which JVWCD determines are in its best interest. JVWCD prefers that the compensation for a32138a be in the form of surface water rights in the Provo River, but will also accept offers that include a combination of water rights and cash, or cash only. Water right a32138a is approved to divert approximately 991 acre-feet from a well in Provo, Utah. An offeror should review the files of the Utah State Engineer for more details on the approved change application and should not rely solely on the summary information in this request in submitting an offer.
